Summer & Winter Special
Hot Summers and Cold Winters
Summers in DOUGOYA are really hot, even with the cooler on.
Winters in DOUGOYA are really cold, even with the heater on.
Winters can be hard to handle, so we have prepared some items to keep our guests comfortable: kotatsu (a heated table with blankets) and hot water bottles. These items have been a Japanese mainstay for generations. It is traditional to eat mikan (mandarin oranges) while sitting under the kotatsu, and putting hot water bottles in the futon while you sleep as snug as a bug in a rug.
In the summers, we have other items to help keep you cool.
Please enjoy a real look into a traditional lifestyle, and feel like you've jumped back in time to the Showa Period.

Life is always changing in Dogo, and there is a recent movement called “Dogo Art”. We here at DOUGOYA have spun our own unique version of this with “DougoyArt”. We employed the “Artist in Residence” project. Each room was designed by an artist that stayed in the room and expressed their impression of the Dogo area. Therefore each room is a one of a kind work of art fused with the soul of Dogo.
