A Hidden Treasure
This building's history dates back to the Showa Period. It was originally known as Nakamura Ryokan and was a famous place patronized by local men of influence and knowledge. Now, as DOUGOYA (established in April of 2013), we hope to keep the spirit of that age alive, giving a fresh feel to the old ways.

Art and Harmony
One way we have brought a modern feel to this traditional space is with art. In the past, we invited an artist to stay as a guest and paint the room. Later, we decided to have everyone enjoy the process with a Live Painting event. After that, we invited other artists to work together and continue the transformation of DOUGOYA. While staying with us, you can relax in the hot spring, feel the harmony from the art, and put your heart at ease.
From the Heart
We are doing our best to maintain the feeling of the Showa Period as much as possible. The wooden structure and the warmth of the hot spring produces a nostalgia like no other. We have made sure to leave as much of the original building intact. That may lead it to be less convenient than a modern structure, but at the same time, a unique experience and a doorway into the past. We hope you can relax and savor this rare treasure.
