DougoyArt
Enhancing the Dogo Area with Art
This unique art project has been underway since 2015.
We hope you enjoy the unique rooms and art pieces.
What is DougoyArt?
We employed the
“Artist in Residence” project.
Each room was designed by an artist that stayed in the room and expressed their impression of the Dogo area. Therefore each room is a one of a kind work of art fused with the soul of Dogo.
The Artists
- BAKIBAKI
Kohei Yamao - Born in 1978 in Osaka.
In 2001 started the live painting duo “DOPPEL”. In 2007 he went solo. Using his distinct “shatter pattern” as a weapon, he left his footprint across the world with his murals and live painting events. His style being both modern and traditional Japanese at the same time, he uses traditional Kyoto brushes, he painted a fusuma (sliding door) at Zojyoji Temple and has done collaborations with various companies, such as Nike, Sony, and Facebook. In addition, he's working to improve the social status of street culture, such as the Live Paint Battle National Tournament “Live Paint Dojo” and also does workshops with kids.

BAKIBAKI(Kohei Yamao)and MON(Kotaro Oyama) worked together on live painting events. In 2001, they started activities in Kyoto based on the concept "pursue expressions as a duo, who are neither individuals nor a society". From live painting at clubs and festivals, mural paintings for shops and public works, installations, they also did collaborations with various companies such as SONY, NIKE, TOYOTA, and Facebook. They moved freely back and forth between Bangkok, Manila, and other areas in Asia, such as Seoul. In 2017, based in Kansai, they are grabbing the attention of Japan as a driving force for Japan's live paint culture.
